Dr. Berg talks about the difference between
Not losing weight versus
Slow weight loss.

If you have a stubborn metabolism or belly fat and you are losing weight but its just too slow, the tips you would do are different than if you are not losing weight at all. No weight loss equals serious problem deeper and we need testing for this, maybe the thyroid, adrenal, kidney or some other deep problem.

If you dieted for years and destroyed your metabolism, then it will be slow. We need to look at the quality and quantity of your calories of proteins, fats and carbs.

-you need a huge change
-check thyroid, adrenal or kidney
-strengthen your successful actions. Look at the quality of food for protein, fats and carbs. Then look at the quantity of fats, protein or carbohydrates.
Then look at the frequency of meals. We need to bring it down to 3 or 2 or even 1 meal per day for some people. Six meals a day would spike insulin.
-then we check the sleep (sleep apnea, hot flashes or the cycle – too much estrogen), digestion (constipation, ulcers or GERD) or inflammation.
-instead of taking a pill for weight loss, support the deeper reason like insulin.

  1. In February I started at 248 pounds and today I am 224…. Everyone else seems to drop weight so quickly except me. I'm not super strict Keto because I eat peanut butter and I use Sucralose in my coffee. I do IF most days and only had one cheat meal on my birthday. I'm 41 and have been overweight since 1st grade and have yo-yo dieted most of my life with calorie restriction.

  2. I've gone to one meal a day and I'm not feeling hungry. The fat and protein is sustaining me. I know my system is a slow burner from damaged metabolism, im obese, and I suffer from sleep apnea. I enjoy a lot of leafy greens and drink acv. I'm working on cleansing my liver, resting my adrenals, and pampering my pancreas! My body loves my one good meal a day and GOOD food NEVER tasted better! Thank you, Doctor for everything you share!

  3. You mentioned estrogen interfering with weight loss. I have very high estrogen levels, and no weight loss on a keto diet. The only way for me to lose weight has been water fasting. I am on a keto diet anyway because I sleep better on it. Can anything be done about high estrogen?

  4. Thanks Dr.B love your informative videos but the links you provide are disappointing. For example, I could not access the Keto course and the link to the Insulin supplement does not point to the source described, even searching on the page it goes to does not show any product related to Insulin support. Would appreciate a fix to the issue.

  5. Excellent video, Dr. Berg!
As a nurse of 25 years, I can vouch that this ties in well with nursing care and represents the best nursing practice.
Wish more doctors would educate themselves about dietary treatments for correcting health problems, instead of prescribing pills that have many side effects .

  6. I am that slow machine,,I live on 2 meals a day 13-14 hours maximum 16 hrs of intermittent fasting….butca very nice hearty meal at the end,but it really helps ,IF helped me reduce 7 kgs out of 20 kgs that I gained ,and iam extremely insulin resistant, that's when I started intermittent fasting after watching Dr Eric Berg's videos on it….they helped me great deal doc.

  7. I started Keto 24 days ago at 255 Lbs. I eat a lot of Spinach, chicken 6oz, almonds, MCT oil, eggs, Keto pizza, Celery + peanut butter, Pumpkin seeds, Bullet proof coffee, avocados, cabbage chicken soup and more fully keto approved foods. I have been selecting the best food options with zero cheating. NO sugar and only carbs are from the veggies. I fasted for 3 days initially (which was extreme) then started a 24 hour fast between meals. I get up in am and have bullet proof coffee then work all day (7000-10000 steps at work). After work I eat some chicken or tuna salad along with 4-5 cups of salad 50/50 blend. I take vitamins and snack on almonds and pumpkin seeds or have celery w/PB. Every 3 days I work out after work while fasted before I go home to eat. I lost weight to 225 but have been stuck at that for 5 days and today I went up to 226. I am wondering what I am doing wrong? I eat 2300-2600 calories but burn 3000+ according to my fitness watch. How do I break a plateau? Should I fast again for a couple days? BTW I feel amazing and I have keto urine strips showing 80-100% ketones every day. Maybe I’m having too much fat? I worked out hard and have higher heart rate then pre-keto I typically do 50minutes elliptical, then I do super sets with weights, and finally resistance training of all muscle movements in the pool with hand flippers. Any Advice you have for breaking a plateau for someone that has been super focused on doing everything correctly?

  8. I wish I could have a meet up with u and talk to u 🙁 I don't know if I am on a plateau or what.. I am on intermittent fasting also have fasted for 20 hours for 5 days. But… Nothing

  9. Dr. Berg, I just purchased Swerve, Erythritol sugar sub. I was wondering, since it's a derivative of corn, if it's safe to use for someone who is pre diabetic, losing weight and changing sugar intake?

  10. Dr. Berg, can depression, lack of luster so to speak hinder a person's weight loss … I don't have the same "desire" and I wonder if my temperament is hindering my weight loss? You are such a wealth, I apologize for tapping your intelligence with might seem dumb questions … life has turned upside down and I am so glad you don't believe in belittling people who are really trying. Thank you.

  11. Could you please do video on the heavy menstrual causing slow weight loss and how to change it. If you haven't already. After having my son 14 years ago, I have this very problem. I am 45 and keto fixed my lack of cycle, but now it back and very heavy.

  12. Dr. Berg you are amazing and I cannot believe you do these videos for free. I just wanted to take the time to say Thank You.! I'm sure that I'm not the only person who is grateful you don't charge an arm and a leg to teach us how to live healthy and lose weight as well .

  13. I honestly would describe this as a modified ketogenic diet. The inclusion of 7-10 cups of fresh veggies a day is there to ensure that you don't get a fatty liver. Since I already have a fatty liver I want a program that avoids aggravating it. That is why I like this diet.

  14. Someone with a very slow metabolism (Hashimoto's hypothyroidism) who is also diabetic, type 2, can someone like that who aims weight loss limit meals to one meal a day or one meal plus dinner salad greens with homemade dressing? Is it safe to eat one or one meal plus salad as a second meal for one with diabetes?

  15. Hi dr berg can you do make video about on male pattern hair fall for female and left side hair fall more than right side and oain in roots and scalp and roots are very week even unable to comb my hairs

  16. Mentally since i only ear one meal per day, I like to plan out the day's next meal. This helps to prevent cheating. Also, if I do cheat I'll count toward breakfast for the next day.

For slow metabolism you may only need one meal but it can be a struggle every day to not eat for 23 hours.
