Amber-colored golden figs and dark purple Mission figs star as being the special secret what make these brownies so unique and thus delicious. The tiny crunchy seeds and sweet, chewy flavour with the figs complement the toasted walnuts and smooth candy. Health-conscious cooks are excited to know that chocolates contribute health-promoting flavonol antioxidants; dried figs provide a unique range of essential minerals and vitamins and an excellent level of dietary fibre, and walnuts deliver essential omega-3 fat and “healthy” monounsaturated fats.
Figs will also be perfect for snacking as they are so portable and convenient, in addition to being a nutrient-dense fruit. Three to four figs provide 6 percent daily value (DV) iron, 6 percent DV calcium, 6 percent DV magnesium, 6 percent DV vitamin B6 and 8 percent DV copper.
